What is Rotary?

• An organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

• The world's first service club founded in Chicago in 1905.  Rotary is starting its second century of service.

• Over 31,314 clubs with about 1,200,000 members located in 166 countries.

• The Rotary Foundation, which each year provides over $77 million for international scholarships, cultural exchanges and humanitarian projects, large and small, that improve the quality of life for millions of people.

• PolioPlus, Rotary's commitment to eradicate polio throughout the world is 99% complete.  More than one billion children in developing nations have been immunized against polio.  160 countries are now declared polio free.

• Planning and carrying out a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs that touch people's lives in their local communities and our world community.
